I have to say I'm
less enthusiastic on the "fuses are cheaper, lighter and smarter"
theory.
Breakers give you immediate
information about where you might have a problem
that you might not otherwise
notice. They also give you a useful last-ditch
method
of taking something offline when you need to. The analysis on the string of malibu
crashes that occurred some years back
resulted in many observations, one of
which was that the breaker for the
a/p was in some cases a good way to kill it
but that it was hard for the
pilot to reach. ...one example of doing your problem
solving on the ground I guess.
I have all the breakers and breaker toggles on my side of the panel
within easy
sight and reach.
