I think that this is a great idea. When considering the engine, prop and
accessaries the savings should come to about $30,000. If the engine is
turbocharged, the speeds at altitude would not be much different then with the
IO-550. Where did you hear about the THIO-360? I can not find it on the
Superior web site.
David, we will have to meet for hot dogs at Sporty's when the weather gets
better.

I am looking at building a Legacy right now as well! The price on the
IO-550 just went up 7% or 3500$ in January, so it's $49k now. I was
looking at putting a Superiou XP-360 in for less than 24k. So I'm
interested in all these issues as well. Weight and balance would be
among them. But it seems like a hybrid Legacy RG with the small engine
would have a lot of appeal.
