I'm
interested in taming the stall characteristics of my 320. I've tried VGs
without noticeable change, but didn't really experiment with different
chord location or yarn (I tried 10% chord from tip to stub border -- they
were as ugly as I expected). I can live with the performance that I've got
(nasty stall in all configurations -- thankfully fairly benign in ground
effect), but I'd go to some trouble to improve if someone more creative
than I can dream something up.
Bill,
Be careful. We have a very interesting variant of the NLF(1)-0215F
(flapped natural laminar flow) - totally different than 64212. Our
wing utilizes the reflex flap to provide a tremendous reduction in drag even
though it is a relatively FAT wing. It has the interesting
characteristic that dirt only adds to the drag, not to any significant loss
of lift. The wing tip is, unlike the Legacy, is washed out
quite a bit. It maintains laminar flow over quite a bit of the upper
surface and a good deal of the bottom - the wing mis-built, rough, ugly
underneath, mis-matched incidence, etc could all contribute to less than perfect
performance.
For me, I'll avoid the stall regime and regale in the performance
area. I will take no naps flying my LNC2.
