My #1 cylinder has been running 30°F hotter than #'s 2,3 & 4.

Scott Krueger suggested that my #1 CHT probe might be too close to the exhaust pipe. I thought that made since and before I started building my #1 cylinder wing to get more air around the cylinder, I promised Scott that I would look at the probe's position.

I discovered that the hose clamp that holds the heat shroud for the carb & cabin heat was loose and that my #1 probe was very close to the heat shroud.

I took a 1" square piece of asbestos exhaust pipe wrap, placed it between the heat shroud and the hose clamp. I then placed some red silicon between the CHT probe and the hose clamp.

When I flew today, the #1 CHT was 30°F cooler and now matched the CHT's of my # 2,3 & 4 cylinders. Scott sure saved me a lot of cooling work.

Thanks Scott!

Sincerely,
