Also ask for AC 21-12A Application for Airworthiness Certificate.
I called the FAA Regulatory Support Division(AFS-600) and asked for their Book: Amateur Built Aircraft Reference Manual. It has every conceivable AC, reg etc. pertaining to amateur built aircraft. At the time I called a few years ago, I was told that they would probably make it an official publication. It is about an inch thick and soft-bound.

Call your local FAA MIDO office and request AC-90-89 Amatuer-Built Aircraft Flight Testing Handbook. This will answer all your questions on registration and guide you in your flight testing.
