I have seen a couple of Lancairs where both sets of rudder cables are run
all of the way and attached to the rudder, I think this is what I would
do.

attached back in the tailcone. Short of cutting a large hole in the tail
section or having a personal Mini-Me to somehow crawl back there and operate
the swaging tool I can't imagine how this would be done. In addition there is
a standoff with fairleads that has to be glassed in 3-4 inches aft of
where the cables join. These are the two greatest hurdles. I'm sure
there are others.
