My name is Jon Pastusek and I am currently working on making some of the air nozzles. I will retail the products myself for now and can offer the different types for $65.00 ea. plus shipping. Pictures of the original round and square models are attached. I have also added a picture of a SCAT attachment I?m currently designing that will fit on both models, price to be determined.
My uncle?s Lancair IVP is in the paint shop and my father?s Legacy is soon to be out of the crate. I have traveled from Fort Worth, Texas to the Oshkosh Fly-In with family and friends over the last 8 years. During this last trip we were astounded by the dramatic increase in price over of the air nozzles.
I am a recent Mechanical Engineering (May ?04) graduate from Texas A&M and am working on starting my own business (Practical Products) designing and retailing several products based on a premise of quality and a good price. My father owns a machine shop and he currently does relatively low volume and high precision work. This type of work is perfect for the aeronautical industry and keeping quality and affordable manufacturing in the US.
I had just finished putting together the final cost and estimates to make the original square 4 bolt and round style nozzles. While the current design works well for a plenum installation, I have a few modification ideas that would work even better for the SCAT tubing installation. I am currently working with my father on programming the machines for production.
I plan to sell these through normal distribution channels to reduce the price for everyone. I will sell these nozzles directly individuals as many as people will buy at $65.00 while I work to lower the common retail which I inevitably would have to match. In the end, if I can?t arrange a better retail price then I?ll just keep on selling them myself because $120-$170 is just too much.
At first the old cost of $50, 5 years ago, even seemed a bit much. Honestly I have found good material selection - 2024 T3 Aluminum, quality ? some critical dimensions, mixed with manufacturing small batches uncontrollably creates a higher fixed cost.
I hope to continue to develop and market more products under my company but not looking to do small special orders or become a job shop. Feel free to contact me during business hours by phone or anytime by email. One day I will even have my website up.

Jon Pastusek
