Here is a short extension which solved the problem of gray exhaust stains on the
paint. It is a piece of .016 stainless about 3.5" long which wraps around the
upper half of the upper pipe. I used a hose clamp to hold it while installing
the wires, then removed the clamp. It has been there since last August (61 hr)
and is still tight. Inexpensive, and it has the advantage of adding very little weight to the exhaust pipe.
