G'Day Lorn, greetings from "Down Under"

Interesting what you say about having to crack the dump valve after a long flight. I have never had this happen to me until the last dozen or so flights I have made. I purchased the aircraft "pre loved" and thus am fumbling my way through ironing out the gremlins primarily in the gear system. The problem is that the support network is very limited in Australia as mechanics are very mucg Cessna, Piper and Beechcraft oriented..the Lancair is a whole new experience..unfortunately at my expense. I am more a flyer then a 'fixer' and rely on the aircraft to travel deep into  the bush for work. Thus I come unstuck in awkward places!
There was a fairly recent posting about this problem (cracking the valve) but it would seem that it is almost "normal" for this aircraft from what you've indicated. It also seem that the spool valve is more often then not incorrectly installed. Is it possible to verify that the spool valve is in correctly without returning the pump to Oildyne?

I've been cruising 8,500 to 9,500 full throttle and 2250 RPM--and getting 165 TAS.. I must try higher RPM settings to get the most out of the old girl.

Thanks to all the responses--it is great to have people to bounce ideas off and especially interseting reading the accounts of getting into Osh! Too bad we don't have a similar event in Oz.
