I would start looking a gaps in my baffling if the oil cooler that you have
has been used by others successfully.

There aren't any gaps in the baffling. I don't believe that it was used in a manner that I would deem successful. I think the previous owner may have been satisfied with that, but I definitely am not. I purchased the plane during the fall season (it was cool) and the plane runs fine in the winter. I'm sure this had something to do with the timing of the sale as well. If you "manage" the climbout (a really shallow one) you can get it to do so-so. I want something that really performs and not something I need to nurse. Thanks for your input.
