On my last couple of flights a new odd behavior has
developed on the gear pump. Normal behavior has been that after the plane
has sat for awhile (more than a few hours) since the last time the gear system
was pressurized, the gear pump would issue a quick burp to repressurize the
system when one turned on the battery. My impression is this is typical on
LNC2s. Lately the pump is running noticeably longer (more like a second
and a half or so). Also, upon retracting the gear after take-off, the pump
will continue running for 6-8 seconds after the gear seems to be up (based on
airstream noise, I don't have up lights). Previously it would turn off
concurrently with the cessation of airstream noise. It does not do the
occasional burp thing in flight that some of you have written about (at least
not within a one hour flight). There are no apparent leaks and I checked
the dump valve firmly closed. I checked the pump reservoir and it is only
slightly below full (3/16").
Any suggestions for trouble-shooting?
