My Mac aileron trim ran away yesterday in either direction after operating the switch. It seems the centering spring failed so the switch stayed closed in the last position used. A well marked circuit breaker is very useful to solve the problem after you figure out what is happening. My switch was bought in 1988 and used for about 700 flight hours.
