A friend of mine who also owns a Lancair IVP recently had to put the
airplane in with the nosegear retracted.  Inspection showed a 1/8 inch roll
pin that holds nose wheel attach flange to the strut shaft had sheared.
Upon inspecting mine, I discovered mine was also sheared.  It was not
noticeable until we began to remove the flange.  I would suggest everyone
inspect theirs.

I understand Lancair has a fix.  We are proposing to drill a larger hole
entirely through the strut shaft and flange, placing one roll pin
completely through both sides of the strut, putting a smaller roll pin
through that first roll pin and then safety wiring both pins.
