There were articles on AVWEB and (I think) AOPA.
What I got from the articles was that this was not symptomatic of some deep financial problem but a temporary cash-flow problem. Apparently Lancair had staffed up (for production of certificated aircraft) in anticipation of funding that has been delayed.
I'll try to find pointers to the articles, but right now this is all I could turn up.
