This is exactly what Larry was concerned about -- false and exaggerated claims.  "Screaming past" is an inaccurate measure of speed differential -- I can hardly wait until the next duel where the only screaming you will be doing is to say "Why me?"   I understand you have the only 360 to be hit from behind by bugs.

However, your implications are correct.

1. The ram air trick is useful to make your engine think its' 1500 feet lower than your wings.

2.  Cubic inches count in climb and power at altitude (I can run with any 360 low down, but the screaming begins at about 6000 feet).

3.  Electronic ignition may contribute to speed.  I just installed the LASAR electronic ignition on my 320.  Preliminary impressions are instant starts, sprightly takeoff runs, energetic climbs and a knot or two faster above 4000 feet.  I need further tests for a more definitive answer, but I believe the LASAR claim that advancing the timing of a hot spark gets more of the fuel burned in the cylinder, ergo more power.
