I concur. I have the Tanis model which heats the jugs, pan, and the block. I live in the Southeast, where we really don't have a winter, but I always flick it on for about 45 minutes to an hour if the temp is 50F or below.

You want the jugs warm. An oil heater doesn't address the problem nearly as
well. By the time warmish oil starts to heat the cylinders, the _potential_
damage is already done.
