Dear John and fellow listers:

I agree with all the very good points mentioned regarding pilot qualifications and how to deal with the insurance companies.

For the record what I intended to say was that at least AVEMCO was requiring 1500 TT as so was my understanding.   They are gone from the high end Lancair larket so their policies are not relevant anymore.

I agree that a pilot with 500TT 200hrs of which is in high performance equipment is far better equipped to fly a lancair than say a 1000 TT pilot all of which is in 172's.   Common sense should prevail but education of the underwriting staff of what it will take.

In that vein I have scheduled one of the insurance executives to view  a Lancair in its construction stage so as to better understand the building process and I am looking for someone within 200 miles of Kansas City to arrange an orientation on the aircraft and a demo flight for him as well.   Anyone who can help out there?

I am also looking for someone who would be willing to assist in developing an aircraft inspection check list which can be presented to the insurance company as well.   Any takers?

Finally, Charlie Kohler mentioned that he developed a series of parameters for the Frasca Flight simulator which would simulate the performance of a Lancair.   This could well be a very valuable training aid.   I wonder if anyone has any thoughts on how we could develop this into a full fledged simulator based training program.   I am out of my element here but welcome suggestions.

Regards,

Dave Riggs
