I'm far from being the subject however I use such a telephone system to turn
on the heat at my cabin in the mountains. It uses the old X-10 wall plug
modules with a telehone responder. You call the number in the hanger, press
some security code which you set and then press a number which gives the
"on" command which turns on the wall plug providing power to your heater.
Simple. Don't know if they still make these units. I got mine years ago
from Powerhouse X-10. Hope this helps.
