Does anyone know if the spring loaded punches that can shatter glass will
break the Plexiglas windows in our planes?  If so, they might be handy to
have in the plane.<<

I don't think that would work - the window "punches" are actually machinists
spring-loaded center punches and they rely on the brittle nature of glass to
shatter the window.  The most it would do is probably put a little dent in
the plastic or start a small crack.  A bullet would almost certainly just
put a small hole in the plastic.  One guy I talked to landed a KIS upside
down (well, he didn't really land upside down, he just ended up that way)
and he suddenly got worried about how to get out when he smelled fuel.  He
had no tools so he gave a window a kick.  Said he couldn't believe how easy
it was (or maybe the effectiveness of the adrenalin rush!).
