If so, they might be handy to have in the plane.<< I don't think that would work - the window "punches" are actually machinists spring-loaded center punches and they rely on the brittle nature of glass to shatter the window. The most it would do is probably put a little dent in the plastic or start a small crack. A bullet would almost certainly just put a small hole in the plastic. One guy I talked to landed a KIS upside down (well, he didn't really land upside down, he just ended up that way) and he suddenly got worried about how to get out when he smelled fuel. He had no tools so he gave a window a kick. Said he couldn't believe how easy it was (or maybe the effectiveness of the adrenalin rush!).
