Larry, you brought up the question of how one counts garaged time in the
aging process of these gas struts. I suspect that you would count garaged
time the same as "in service" time. In other words if a builder has been
building for 4 or 5 years or more and has had his strut since day one, he
would be well advised to replace the strut before first flight. I don't
have a lot of data to back up this opinion but I can tell you that my first
strut gave me 5 years of garaged time and one year of service time. My
second strut gave me 6 years of service time. Comes out 6 years for both.
