Mark, we just went through this on the Legacy at Spruce a few months ago.   The VMS are no longer made.  Some are still in stock though.   EI makes an equivalent unit with the electronics accessible for future replacement.    The VMS needs to be pulled in the future if it fails so just go with the EI replacement.

Todd at Princeton confirms the signals are the same output for VMS, EI.

Lancair charges $289 for the Legacy unit (72 inches) and EI was charging $249 list.  At OSH I was told by EI to go see a vendor (JPI) who sold it for 10% off plus another 10% off for the special.  I think you should be able to get your probe for the same price.   I can send you the invoice details and you should be able to talk to the same folks and order the same unit cut to your specs.

In my failed unit the spacer had slid down the tube causing the centre probe to short with the casing during bumps.   The wiring in the head was also found to be intermittent so we just pulled the wing and changed the unit.

Help,
One of my Vision Microsystem 48" capacitance fuel probes bit the dust in my 360. Called JPI who will make one (7 days) at a cost of $795. That is about five times the original cost. Is there some other source for this kind of probe? Thanks
