Berni, see Brent's multiple posts re: spinning mass gyros as back up. They have the advantage of not having a common failure mode with an electronic ahrs. (e.g. you get hit by lightning and all electronics are gone)
- re: breakers. One way to eliminate a pile of breakers is to use fuses. You would use a fuse where you had no intention of resetting the offending circuit in flight. Personally I like to KNOW what blew so I used acres of breakers (klixon's). You can get some on the center console and you could put some on the left side of the fuselage near the pilot's knee. Cirrus puts them on the pilot's side of the center console.

As I continue to contemplate an instrument panel upgrade I am stuck on planning for the best way to eliminate circuit breakers from my panel. I am going to go with a StarFlight panel thereby producing enough real estate to allow for the Garmin G900 plus a glass back up such as an Aspen. I would sincerely appreciate hearing from other Legacy owners regarding ideas of how to create such a panel wile eliminating breakers from the panel face...baggage compartment?...other ideas?
