At the (appreciated) advice of a LML
subscriber this past weekend, I found a used outflow valve at a salvage yard for
$2500, far better than the current $10,400 price for new. I called
Michelle @ Lancair Monday afternoon to verify it was the right part number and
got her voice mail (left a message). I found a message Monday
night on my cell phone that after some more research at the factory, she
had "good news" for me on the valve. Expecting she was going to tell me
she found it had been shipped "way back when" (and I already knew I didn't have
it in my shop), I was not getting my hopes up.
Well, her good news was that Lancair
went through all my files and clearly verified I was never shipped the
valve. They are going to provide me a new one at NO CHARGE. Fourteen
years (to the month) later, completely different ownership, and they are
covering a $10,400 valve not shipped with the original kit.
This is
unbelievable!!
To be clear, I never expected anything
from the factory. I am sure when Lancair was bought many years ago, there
was no outstanding "payable" stated on the books for this, so covering this is
essentially new ownership stepping up "above and beyond".
I just wanted to give credit where credit is
due!
