David,

I have a antenna jack on my panel that allows a pigtail adapter plug from my
Icom handheld to disable the SL30 antenna connection and connect the
handheld to the belly mounted com antenna.  To avoid damaging the panel
mounted com radio you should turn it off since the antenna is no longer
connected.

(from Aircraft Spruce Catalog)   ICOM Antenna Switchbox.
The IC-ANTSB allows the operation of one external antenna for both handheld
and panel mounted transceivers. The antenna switchbox unit can be mounted
behind the panel so that the interconnect port is visible. Supplied with
four foot interconnect cable.
Description   Part No.             Price
ICOM ANT SWITCHBOX A6 A24 A14 11-18547 $63.95

Subject: [LML] handheld radio panel plugin

hi all,

anyone have experience with a plugin(switch) for a handheld radio to go
through the external antenna ie for a backup to a radio failure.  in the
spirit of redudancy, i was thinking of adding this to my panel as early on i
had a stuck mike(fixed with replacement of the audio panel) and i thought
this may be a worthwhile backup.  however, upon looking further into this,
apparently it may rob the panel mounted radios of db's and i have read that
when it is used it may damage the panel mounted radios. fact or fiction?  is
it worthwhile? downsides?

thanks,
