Subject: Lancair IV Replacement wing Installation?

All,

I have to believe that someone along the way has found the need to replace one or both wing halves on a IV? As everyone knows the wing halves are match drilled to the spar carry-through at the factory.  They are all slightly different. I am installing a new set of wings on an airplane that already has the spar carry-through box installed.  The bushing centers on the new wing set  are approximately 0.1875 wider than the prior set of wings utilized on receiving airplane.  I have found from the factory that the bushings are straight with no hidden flanges under the glass and are installed with adhesive.

Our plan was to install & jig the wings, then match drill the bushings at each tapered end of the spar (after replacing with solid aluminum bushings). If anyone has done this and learned some trivia that may help the next person, I’d appreciate hearing from you.

Thanks.

Regards,
