Bob Stia's suggestion to use the hand bulb to effect the seal inflation is an excellent one.

In my preparation for flight, I still use the electric pump, but I have turned the pressure switch way down, and I only inflate it on the ground until I hear the engine sound diminish.  No more, no less.
