We saw this
airplane at Oshkosh,
was impressed by the unique paint scheme and took a couple photos. We didn’t
realize it was a total vinyl wrap until we read about it in the AirVenture news
paper the next day… The article said it cost about $6K. In paint it would probably
have been at least $25K…

It was done to
honor the pilots pet Cockatoo… We’re looking seriously at the vinyl wrap option
and looking forward to learning more about it.

Subject: [LML] Aircraft wraps
Hey Fellow Lancair owners,
Wanted to get some feedback on something fairly new that's happening in
aircraft finishes.
3M put's out a product that we use to Wrap vehicles for advertising and
custom designs like nascar. Recently these vinyl wraps have been used on
Successfully on Aircraft. I wanted to get your thoughts on the application of
this product on experimental Aircraft like our Legacy's and
such. Some advantages of this product is that the design you can
apply to the aircraft is unlimited, from actual photo quality Graphics to
anything Imaginable. I may play around some with my own Legacy. One of the nice
thing's about this product is it's fully removable, without damaging
primer or paint, fairly inexpensive, easily repairable, and light weight. I'll
be Playing around some with my own Legacy. If anyone has an interest in
following the progress with this application or have any feedback, thoughts or
IDEAS!!! you can e-mail me at ptjetpilot@hotmail.com
or post your thoughts on LML.
Thanks
Jeff
