From: n295 v v Charlie mentions that the Continental TSIO 550 engines had too much tension on the oil control ring, and that his failed at 500 hours or so.

Charlie, did Continental give you replacement cylinders or some monetary compensation for their screw up, or has anyone else received satisfaction from Continental?

I am seeing my cylinders drop to 60 psig now, and I am an unhappy customer.  My engine is of 95 production and has 400 plus hours.  I agree that we should form an engine owner's registry, as has been suggested.  Then we should get us a junk yard mean ass lawyer to get us satisfaction if the company is not prompt in rectifying our damaged engines.

If this was a thousand dollar Subaru engine, I can understand no responsibility on the part of big C, but it isn't--it is a fifty thousand dollar engine with a hundred or so moving parts, and the price alone tells me as a customer that some warranty for TBO is implied.

I am happy that C has come out with Top Care Cylinders--I am waiting for their letter to tell me how ,where , and when they want to install them on my engine as their recall program.....
