LML is great and educational!
Thanks to all who replied. The pertinent point learned is that best charging voltage is temperature dependent, higher voltage for lower temps. From experience, I have a B&C voltage regulator, over-voltage protection, low voltage warning, but no temp sensing was available when I bought it. With my regulator set at 14.1v, I fried a RG-35XC in about a year, as it lived in the warm engine compartment and the charging voltage was too high for those temperatures. By all means get the B&C regulator with temperature compensation, mount the regulator in the cooler cockpit for long life and place the temp. sensor on the battery. The best of all situations. The B&C regulator has it all: adjustable voltage, over-voltage protection, low voltage warning and temp. sensing for the battery!!!
