I drilled the cable guide holes in my 360 aft fuselage this weekend. I started the hole in the aft end of the blister with a dremel tool. I then used a standard length drill bit to finish this hole. Then I used a 12" drill bit to get the next hole (the one in the vertical bulkhead). Did this for both sides. Then I went to the hobby store and bought 4 pieces of music wire, two 3/16 diameter and two 1/8 diameter.
Putting the cleaned 3/16 inch wire thru the holes I just drilled allowed me to better line up the hole in the forward (slanted) tail bulkhead. It also convinced me that I had to slightly elongate one of the holes in the vertical bulkhead to get everything to line up properly. (No foul here, there's to be lots of micro and fiberglass holding the guide tubes. A slightly oval hole now is a non-issue.)
When I had all three holes drilled on each side, I put the cleaned 1/8 inch music wire in the Nylaflow guide tube and fed it into the plane. I think the wire inside will give much needed support and ensure the tube is as straight as possible when micro/glassed into place. (Slight bends are still possible with the wire.)
By the way, I am installing rudder pedals on both sides. This technique works equally well for the starboard rudder cable with a pilot's only installation, since it's the same. Don't know about the portside cable with a pilot-only installation, though.
