I know Bob Chesley asked Mike to identify a "bolt cable end" but I'll toss
in an answer in case Mike doesn't see the question.
Yep! the kind of termination where as you say, you "drill a hole in a bolt
and
....." - that's the one being talked about in recent posts.
I use these in two places, Mixture (because that's what was standard on the
Lycoming I have) and Carb heat. On both of these, however, I have springs
arranged to yank the control to a common position. For the mixture, the
spring will force it to go to full-rich, and on the carb heat, the spring
will take it to "off".
I have some 500+ hours on my Lancair and neither of these control wires have
broken - YET -. If and when they do (as they probably will someday) I'll
replace them with the "bug-nuts". They're only still in there since I wasn't
all that savvy about their propensity for failure I've been hearing about.
