Wire control cable ends can be secured with "bug-nuts" - they work. Sometimes it is worthwhile to put a rod end on a wire cable such as the mixture control. Here's one way to do that:
1. Choose a female rod end appropriate for the attachment with an AN4 (1/4 inch) thread.
2. Drill a hole longwise thru a 1/4 inch bolt (AN4) slightly larger than the wire diameter.
3. Put the bolt on the wire and bend the end of the wire 90 degrees such that the bent end is almost 1/4 inch long.
4. Loosely thread an AN4 jam nut on the bolt.
5. Put the wire into the rod end and allow the bent end to come out thru the witness hole.
6. Thread the bolt into the rod end until it is snug against the wire end coming out of the witness hole.
7. Tighten the jam nut against the rod end.
Piece of cake!
