Just call me paranoid.
Having the dump valve closed while shutdown is another gear down safety.
On jacks, see how easy it is to trip an overcenter link by hand and retract a
gear leg.
It's virtually impossible against the hydraulic pressure of a closed dump
valve.
So, if there is any chance that the plane might be moved, I'd rather the
valve be closed.
And, because I've become so forgetful, I think I'll just keep mine closed as
SOP in case I'm transient somewhere and might not remember then.
