Last year I had a claim against my insurance with AIG (electrical damage) but my rate actually went down about $500. As an aside, they were very easy to work with on the repairs. Can't say enough good about them. Got the insurance working through SkySmith Insurance, 800/743-1439, http://www.skysmith.com/ .

Colyn -- my guess is that your rate is being driven by your low time in type. I am also with AIG. My policy is up for renewal next month and my rate has stayed the same. I do get recurrent training every year from the HPAT guys and I have well over 500 hours in my IVP

I'm up for renewal in January. Last year was $9000. This year is $11,248.

That's with 1100 total, 900 retract, instrument, commercial. 28 hours make/model.
