If you do a run up to the RPM that you use to check the mags, lean until it starts to drop. Note this position on the mixture and always use it after the start. As Walter said, this is your best setting until departure. I teach this to many pilots who get stuck on the ramp with fouled plugs. It is amazing how they have never heard of this technique. Adding excess fuel at lower temps[Taxi] allows lead to form by gravity{heavy metal] on the bottom plugs. 99% of the time the fouled plug is the bottom plug. Jim Rogers
