Legacy has developed a problem with failure to retract. It will take between 5
and 30 seconds after flipping the switch to get the pump to
activate. This only happens first retract of the day and in cold weather.
It has never done it a second time within a given flight and cannot be
repeated on jacks. Lancair says this is a qwerk in cold weather but if this is
true what is the mechanism? Any insight?
Peter,
Electrons move slower when cold.
Or
1. "Up" relay is sticking until current warms coil and vibration frees
it*.
2. Pressure switch is sticking?
3. Squat switch is still thinking that you are still squatting.
4. I assume that you are in a heated hangar when the plane is up on
jacks. If so, put it up on jacks, turn off the heat, leave the door open
on a cold night and then, first thing in the morning take two aspirin
and try it. Of course, if you have an air speed
activated squat switch, you probably bypassed it in order to raise the gear
whilst on the jacks.
