VMS doesn't want you to solder because they know that someone will
unleash a 300 watt Weller gun on those poor little transducers, melting
the internal connections or destroying their calibration.

The right things to use are a 25 watt soldering pencil and MS 27500
shielded cable with 24 gage conductors. I don't like to use anything but
Tefzel or silicon insulation forward of the firewall for chemical and
heat resistance reasons. The MS cable is also smaller, read lighter,
than the factory stuff. It is also more expensive by a factor,
preventing it's inclusion in the first place.

Remember that the typical kit plane product is designed for the average
kit plane. Lancairs are not average and their performance and price
suggest that premium components be used throughout.
