The avemco insurance binder for my Lancair IV states that the insured must satisfy an annual recurrent training session with a company-approved instructor.

Note that this is not referring to your BFR.  It is a special program designed by the insurance carrier.

Contact them, and they will supply a list of approved instructors for your airplane type.  It is my assumption that this requirement applies to all EXP planes they insure.

If you are presently insured by them, read your contract today.  If you haven't had their approved recurrent training,  they are not going to pay for a claim if it is a requirement.

I am sure there are guys flying that have no coverage because they missed this clause, that is why I mentioned it on the list.

For me, the session runs 2-3 hours and the cost is nominal.   And it includes airwork in the airplane.

It is really a good requirement, as we always need more training.

I schedule the recurrent training just before renewal each year, so it satisfies the requirement for most of the insurance contract period.

As to what avemco wants for your particular plane, i dont know.  Contact your local rep, and they will tell you, i am sure.

Best regards, David Jones
