Can't say I know much about the Legacy exhaust problem but the post did catch my
eye. I've seen this same problem on a Cirrus SR22. Just aft of the exhaust stack
Cirrus installed a piece stainless steel bonded to the belly skin to protect it.
It didn't really work very well and in spite of it the fiberglass skin aft of
the stainless piece blistered anyway. The "fix" was to lower the exhaust outlet
to move it farther from the skin. After building the first few hundred units
Cirrus changed from a single outlet to a dual outlet exhaust. I can't say what
improvement, if any, resulted.

In looking at the problem I took a look at a competing aircraft with what
appears to be a much better solution to the problem than the path Cirrus took.
Perhaps you all will recognize this production airplane! (photo taken March
