Going back a few posts, a small add on to Bob Stia's comments on Jim Weir's
products, I have had fine results with the copper foil antennas and I
believe I obtained the transponder antenna from RST as well for a very
reasonable price. It is only
about 3.5" long and has a ground plane
and also works well. I mounted it back by the tail  but it could be by the
baggage bulkhead for better accessability if needed. Remember, if you use
foil backed sound proofing, keep it away from the antenna if it is mounted
inside the fuselage.
