I believe the race course is actually 82 nautical miles and the race results are computed on that distance and accordingly, speeds are reported in knots. Don't have the result sheet in front of me but mine was 187.xx knots. 216 mph sounds so much better though : ) In addition, to avoid disqualification, you must swing wide to avoid several areas at Sun'nFun start/finish line and, of course, distance is a bit higher due to the inability to make infinitely sharp turns at the corners of the race. Bottom line is that a lot of consideration went into the determination of speeds and I think they are pretty accurate as reported.
