I have to agree with John on the quietness of the rotary with the turbo. I
had his aircraft up to rotation speed, and I was amazed at the lack of
noise.  When we got back into the Lycoming powered Cozy, I was wondering if
the exhaust stacks had fallen off. What a difference!  The rotary with the
turbo was significantly quieter than the Cozy with the Lycoming. Paul Conner

That's interesting. I'm finding the opposite. In fact, I don't wear my
headset when taxiing because I can't hear the engine with it on. Half a
dozen people have commented that the engine sounds quieter than a Cessna.
I'm using a single stage stock '91 turbo.
