Yes, but if you use mogas at ~ $3.85 a gallon versus avagas at $6+ a gallon, you are saving money. Range is decreased though.

There has not been any significant dyne testing of the Mazda rotary in
aircraft configuration (and there are no two alike) so I don't think anyone can
give you those numbers. Typical fuel burn at cruise is between 6.5 and 8.5 GPH.
Everyone uses their own power setting for cruise.
Best info we have on BSFC is around .45 - .47 lb/HP/hr.
