Yes, the nose is a bit long. It looks even worse in the photo because of the wide-angle lens. The engine mount is a standard Lycoming conical engine mount from Glasair. The Mistral Engine backplate (or front plate, depending on your orientation) is built to fit. There is a little room between the rear of the engine accessories and the firewall. My Mistral engine is about 4 inches longer than the Lycoming IO-360, and there is an additional 4 inches on the prop hub. I'm using an AeroComposites 3 blade constant-speed prop and the hub came that way. No WB issues so far.
The nose also looks long because of the location of the nose gear. The Glasair Super 2 also has a lot of space aft of the firewall which was added from the Glasair IIS for stability reasons. It also looks longer because of the allowance for a large 16 inch spinner.

What have you got between the cockpit and the engine- seems like a lot of spare room and extra long nose. Do you need that for W&B.
