Paul has a talent for designing stuff that is better than anything ever designed by anyone else (in his not so humble opinion), but then never building it and flying it. Tracy on the other hand sells stuff that is flight tested and proven.

I've definitely had my issues with the EC2 and would like to see some changes (sure would be nice to be able to connect a laptop or PalmPC via a USB to see/modify the MAP tables). But its about as simple as you can get, is inexpensive for what it does, and has thousands of hours of real world testing behind it.

I guess my question would be why would you want anything else? If Tracy were charging thousands of $ for the EC2 I might understand looking at alternatives. But at the prices Tracy charges, his stuff is one of the screaming deals in aviation.

Could it work?  Of course it could, given enough development.

Nit picks:
I see no redundancy.

It's still pretty basic and I see no implementation of ignition timing optimization (important for best economy).

Oh, Wait, I see no ignition at all, where is it?  or are we waiting for the soon to come 555 ignition system?

Requires modifying or replacing the crank sensor trigger wheel.

Paul has obviously built one of these things, why can't he tell us how well it works?

He said it best in the following excerpt from his web page:

"  I can not guarantee this system will work as well as Klaus's [more complex 555 EFI] system as the devil is always in the details. "  (emphasis mine)

Somebody build it and try it so we'll know.

Tracy
