True, I do NOT recommend the D581 as they failed repeatedly if not
cooled with a blast tube. GM replaced the D581 with the D585.

I thought we weren't supposed to use the D581. Tracy had three go bad.
About 18 months ago Tracy was recommending only the D580 or the D585.
At the time, Rock Auto had the D580 for $31.90.

Dave,
If you're interested in the sister coil to the D585, the D581, it's listed
at RockAuto for $40.

I need some recommendations for a good place to find the best
Ignition Coils. I am looking at the D585 coils. I have thought
about getting a set of used coils, but the more I think about it
the less I would like to fly with used coils.
There are cheap D585 coils on eBay for $20/ea which seems like
they might be sub par as pricing from local Autozone is about $60/ea.
Also wonder what pressure regulator everyone is running, also any
suggestions for gascolators?
