I can't think of any good reason for that to happen, or a bad one.
Unless something was wrong with the B computer.  I think the only
difference externally is the intake air sensor.  The MAP tables could be
messed up on B I suppose.  The test modes not working also sort of
points to the computer.  I seem to remember there was a limitation on
the test modes on the 20B because of the staging relay but I've proven
many times that my memory isn't very good.
