Im real worried about my noise factor. twelve pipes right in front of me. no muffler. each 1 1/2" exhaust pipe actually has a 3/4 hole to exhaust out of. im hoping that will quiet it a bit....but im pretty sure im full of crap....its gonna be toooooo loud.

Bob,, I can guarantee you that you will not like it. I flew for couple of hours with short straight pipes pointed back (Cozy). When I did the first static run up, I asked one of the airport bums to watch for anything unusual. BTW he is hard of hearing. So, I brought it up to 52-52K RPM and looked at my observer, but he was not there? he was running around the corner of the hangar, holding his hands over his ears :). In flight the noise was activating the microphone on the headset too.

Pretty funny mental image, but being hard of hearing is no defense.

Here's a little unsolicited tidbit, picked up when my hearing began to deteriorate due to too much rock&roll in an earlier life/career: As your hearing gets worse, only your threshold of sensitivity moves up; your threshold of pain stays at the same level. Ever notice that grandpa keeps saying 'Huh?' over & over as you repeat your statement louder & louder, until he suddenly says 'Well, you don't have to shout!' ?
