Charlie,
 The pump I refered to is the Siemens pump. If you Google "Siemens, direct injection, Audi" you will get a bunch of info. The high pressure pump is new design. The direct injection requires a high pressure of course to push into full compression. The claim is the new pump is more compact, and requires less HP to operate. Both of these traits are a big plus.

Just stumbled across this site; Is this the pump for the Siemens injection?
